cannock chase and single track but really want to push myself with a quality bike under me... Was looking at KHS and specialized camber but very impressed with price on banshee, but i dont want to be unimpressed when i first take it out, My hardrock has been well used and abused0

The daughters BF has a Banshee (much upgraded) and I'm pretty sure it would survive a Nuclear event, however round Cannock he really struggled with the weight (plus as he usually uses his for Urban stuff it has a road cassette and is running 1x9 so low gear not very low), I'd have to say there are better bikes for round Cannock like the Fury (about £100 more this weekend) or the latest Hydro disc Vulcan (about the same price as the Banshee).
That doesn't help if you want a full suss, but I found at Cannock what you loose on a hardtail on the early rocky downhill bit you more than gain on the climbs (I'm a masochist I guess as I enjoy climbs!) and later more flowing stuff.
