Hi all following on from my previous post i was wanting some advice on which type of pedals would be best for me??
I bought;
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165710
The pedals that come with it dont seem to be up to much!!
I will be using my bike for commuting during the week and longer rides at the weekend with the intent of a triatholon in the future. The main thing tho would be to be most suited for fast and efficent commuting. Lower the cost the better but will pay for quality
Thanks Ryan

Hi Ryan
There is no need to pay lots for suitable pedals and shoes; clipless is the way to go as you get a significantly more positive connection between your feet and the bike. For commuting the MTB style SPD is more suitable than the pure road style as the cleat is flush with the sole of the shoe allowing you to walk quite comfortably. It is also more convenient in stop-start situations on the bike, such as traffic lights (especially on hills), as you can still push down on the pedal without being clipped in.
The Shimano M520 pedals at > £25 get good reviews (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=3759), then choose your preferred style of shoe - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Categories.aspx?CategoryID=1551. I have a pair of the Shimano MT42 shoes which are good in the dry and down at the gym, however the uppers are a mesh construction for breathability so are not great in the wet. For an Autumn/Winter commute you maybe better with something like the Shimano MT60. Be aware with Shimano shoes that they are sized small and you will probably need to go up one size for a good fit; my normal shoe size is 43 but my MT42s are a size 44.
