Heya, here’s a little video I’ve made, first one with a groovy camera! Iit’s been a wee labor of love the last month or so.

I guess it’s about the Spring wildflowers, magpies and mountain biking in Australia… or it could be about a mid 40′s guy having yet another immensely enjoyable mid life crisis :D

Hope you enjoy it! Bummer the forum doesn't display the video though or have I made a mistook?

  • That's a superb bit of video there, superb bike, superb location, one of the best vide I've seen on here.

I miss nice dry trails. It's been such a long time since I've seen one.

Actually, you've completely depressed me now, you utter utter barsteward!
  • You can't embed videos on here unfortunately, looks like a nice trail, and video is well made. Did you have help filming it, or all alone? Enjoyed it.

Thank you Cat! Sorry about the depression though :P

Ironically we had a drought for so many years down here, it was a dustbowl. Rained heaps late 2010/early 2011 and since then we've often had tacky trails that are just right, love it like that. It hadn't rained for a while when I took the video so it was a little dusty, it's bucketed rain since then so the trails will be tacky again soon.

    Thanks MM.

I bribed my daughter with hot chocolate to help me for an hour one day, we took about 5 shots. The rest, over 200 shots of which I guess around 160 or so went into the video, I took myself over 10-12 rides (on a few different trails). I guess it sounds like therapy now but I actually really enjoyed it, apart from the weather not being very co-operative, lots of overcast days and wind when I was hoping for sunny still days. Gotta suck it up hey!

All of which can only mean.... the same bike clothes in all those shots really stink round about now

  • Hi Felix I used a Lumix GH2. I viewed the footage on a full HD TV today and wow even on something like that the video quality is GREAT. Really inspires me to work harder next time. it's only the first video I've done with it, got a lot to learn.

Yeah I need to get using my camera for video - I've gotta Canon 550D which by all accounts also shoots some awesome HD but I've never even put it in video mode.

You've given me some inspiration! - cheers

  • If it's useful to anyone else, I had a few dramas along the way relating to the .mts video files, Vegas crashing and crappy renders (having a old clunker PC is probably not a great starting point). It worked out in the end, have detailed it here
