Good idea or daft idea?

I've been looking at bikes for a couple of weeks now, from Cube to Boardman, and from Genesis to Orange.

Really like the Boardman Pro, geometry is good and I can get it for around £850 with discounts.

On the other hand, really like the Orange Crush too but its above my price range.

Then I thought of an idea.......

Buy an Orange Crush frame, and buy a Carrera Fury and bolt the bits from the fury to the Crush and upgrade as I go along. That way I could get a crush for under £600 and still have decent spec, if not quite as good as the Crush itself.

Epicon fork with 15mm axle, Sram X5/X7, Mavic SM317 wheels, Avid Juicy 3s and available for £400 new. Ok, its a 27 speed which isnt cool with the 20spd kids now, but is this worth a go or should I just buy a complete Boardman Pro?

You'll have to check that the orange can take a 120mm fork (the epicon) because it comes standard with a fox float with 140mm of travel. Other than that, okay it's a bit daft, but why not?
Life's too short to be boring.

You are assuming the crush frame is better than the fury?

Sure am, purely because its Orange. Is that a poor assumption?

I still know that Halfords have one tucked away in a corner, but that corner is over 2hrs drive away. Its available at £431 at the moment but having tried a Boardman in a small frame, I found it to be a good fit. The minimum size the fury is available is 18". I'm 5'8 with a 29" leg so find the smaller frames more comfortable for me. Not quite sure on how the fury top tube length stacks up against the latest Boardmans.

i would take the Fury over the Orange & spend the £400 difference on a fork upgrade.
    Crush isn't a great frame.
If you like harder hitting hardtails have a look at the Saracen Zen, better value than the crush.
