The Beast of Brenin - exploding tyre

We were at Coed y Brenin in Wales and decided to do The Beast. All was going really well until The Pink Heifer, when Nick's tyre exploded - check it out in the video at 11:20.
There was a 1.5 inch hole in the new tubeless Schwalbe Nobby Nic - We used a Park Tools tyre boot and new tube and luckily this lasted for the rest of the ride.
But that trail is a bike breaker - he also managed to buckle (like a banana) his front wheel on a brand new Enduro S-Works!

I love Welsh MTB!
Enjoy

Surely the rockiest bit of the beast is the shared section with MBR, Cain, Slated, and Abel?
Glad you had a good ride though. The beast really is something of a monster0 -

Yeah those are the rockiest - Cain is probably the hardest IMO and I've crashed there a few times. Pink Heifer is smooth so we don't know why the tyre burst on it :?: :!:http://www.youtube.com/user/stumpy25lbs

I have heard many good things about that trail, really wanna try it sometime, hopefully i'll have a chance sometimes.
Sucks about the bikes though, at least that means you were riding hard!0 -

Here's the sequel - part 2. The second half of The Beast at CYB has runs named after Addams Family members (for those of us who remember The Addams Family!)
Unfortunately we decided to do mainly stem-mounted footage on the second half, and there was a lot of vibration coming through the fork so the footage is quite shaky. Still, it gives an idea of what it's like.
Thanks for all your comments.
