Boardman Hybrid - wrong brakes? Elixir 1 rather than Juicy 3

Picked up my Boardman Hybrid Team today - lovely bike

When I was looking it over at home I noticed mine has Avid Elixir 1 brakes and not the Juicy 3 specified - other reviews on their site in September 2011 refer to their Juicy 3s.

Initially saw the Elixirs and thought they had given me the brakes off the Hybrid Pro, but those are Elixir 5s.

So, the nitty gritty - are Elixir 1s better or worse than Juicy 3s????

Cant find any reviews on the web - the RRP looks as though they are probably about the same.

Should I ask for them to be swapped, or feel lucky?

thanks

Not a lot to choose between them, both more than adequate for a hybrid. Elixir always used to be better but Avid have started to produce cheaper versions like the '1'. If it was me I wouldn't be worried with either.

I think I'd rather have entry level Elixirs than entry level Juicys. J3 and E1 are both bottom of the range, so I wouldn't look at it as a downgrade.

OK - that was kinda my thinking too

Seemed to work OK on the ride in this morning anyway...

Rest of the bike is pretty good, except the handlebar grips which are too small for my hand and very hard. I have some Ergon grips at home not being used which will go on there later.

    thanks
