My cycling club (Garstang CC) is situated on the edge of the forest of Bowland and they have decided to open this event up to the public but it's not for the faint hearted. There is a write up of the 2011 club edition in the link along with a route map

Let me know what you think

    Route is now up
  • There are too many events that purport to be hard and often with ridiculous titles. In short, they are con.

This event ain't a con. I may even consider entering. Well done to Garstang CC for coming up with such a badass event.

Just sent off for an application. I start my training at 5pm. Hope to be fit enough by July 2012.

I would just like to point out THAT I WILL NOT BE DOING THIS. I can't even ride a flat 5500 meters never mind that just being the ascent.

    1. Are you mad?
    2. This looks like a stage of Le Tour. Have you called Mr. Prudhomme for possible inclusion next year yet?
    3. No. Just no,.
The only disability in life is a poor attitude.
  • It's an epic ride, and a real leg killer. Turns your brain to mush too.

You want to suffer and/or you think you're hard enough? Get to www.bowlandbadass.com and ask for an entry form.

    Place confirmed.

Anyone got any training advice for this?

Distance wise, I am ok over 180 miles, but that was only a 6k ft of climbing.
Similarly did the Evans liphook event which was 85 miles, think that was around 3k climbing.

Just got in from 170miles ish cycling London->Bath->Swindon.

Got knows how to train for the hills though while in London....
