Hi all this is my first post, I would greatly appreciate opinions on which bike to choose. I can obtain either of these via insurance and cannot decide.

bike 1: Chris Boardman Hybrid comp 2011 http://www.boardmanbikes.com/hybrid/hybrid_comp.html

bike 2: Giant escape 1 2012

Thank you in advance for any responses

I found the Escape in my LBS to be REALLY heavy.

However, if you want one I would be quick because you can get the far higher spec Escape 0 2011 here http://www.wiggle.co.uk/giant-escape-0-2011/ which is a bit if a bargain.

My choice would be the boardman though - much lighter and very good spec for the money.
  • oh really? i was thinking the giant would edge the weight as it has carbon forks. Yea I've seen those deals on wiggle, they look great, but the insurance company im getting the bike through have only mentioned http://www.halfords.com, http://www.wheelies.co.uk and http://www.evanscycles.com/ so pretty sure can only get from those. Are you sure you were trying the 2012 escape 1? and if your based in the US the escape 1 seems to have different specs

Didnt look which Escape it was but my guess a 2011 and cost was about £800.

If you want a light hybrid from Giant the Giant Rapid is the one. Escape is an MTB hybrid whereas Rapid is a road bike hybrid, if you see what I mean.

Have you seen the Boardmans - superlight is an understatement, they are so light you wonder if they are made of carbon!
