My first long ride on my new bike

It was only a few months ago i decided to purchase a Spesh Allez and start to get some serious speed in. However when I went out for my usual 30 mile ride I didn't like it one bit and my arse / hands etc where sore.
I thought I might as well go and get a bike fitting done by bike science in Bristol although i was dubious at how much of a difference it would make.
Sure enough for the next week or so it was horrible to ride, the fitter did say it would feel horrible as I adjust to the new riding position.
So on Saturday with the weather being nice and the fact that I would like to take part in a 80 mile bike ride for charity next weekend I decided i had better try a long cycle and see if the riding position is comfortable let alone the fact that I might actually be able of doing it. ( I have never done more than 40 miles and I was sore at the end of that)
I set off at 10:30 on Sat around Bristol using the Avon cycleway, my god some of those hills are a challenge.!
I got back after 8 1/2 hours only to find out I had rode 93 miles and I felt pretty dam good. Tired but not sore.
I am well chuffed!

riding for 8.5hrs...you mad? haha. Good job tho, i managed 48 the other day (with a horrid headwind) and i was knackered!
I do like my little allez tho.
Goodluck for the 80miler.0 -
Cheers all.
It was 8 1/2 hours with lots of stops to get my bearings and obviously food / drink stops.
I think it was about 7 hours riding time.0 -
Well done mate.
Most I've done is 74 miles on a hybrid from London to Margate. Good luck on your next challenge.0
