I've just bought a Hope District back light for my dark rural commute, and was pleased I could run it off the battery on my Vision 2 front light. Only I can't.
Having bought it and plugged it into my existing battery, the "male" connectors have changed and are now much shorter - so Hope tell me it's not waterproof, and the District is only compatible with 2010 Visions ot later.
If you look on the Hope website it does say this right at the bottom, but I've not found reference to this on any sites selling the District, nor in any of the reviews. Hope's response was "it's mentioned on our website, s'pose you could always buy a new battery, but that might not be waterproof either".
So my choice seems to be buy another Vision and sell the old one or return the District. Either way I was disappointed in the experience...

I'd have expected more from them - maybe an adapter for older units - not hard.
Send the District back and buy a Magicshine MJ-818 rear.0
