Can I use Sram X7 shifters/rear mech with a Shimano SLX front mech?

Yes, any brand of shifters for any brand of front mech, only the rear have to match (bar the odd exception)

I use X9 shifters with an XT front mech and a X9 rear mech, I've used X7 shifters with a Deore front mech and a X9 rear mech...

It's only the rear mech that can have different cable pull ratios, not the front mech.

So both Sram or Shimano shifters work with Sram or Shimano front mechs.

It's only the rear mech that you have to match to the shifters (Sram for Sram, Shimano for Shimano, except a couple of Shimano compatible Sram shifters)
