Single Speed Chain

Hello,
I'm converting to single speed on a hack bike, having a few problemos tho.
I've got a singlespeed conversion kit on the back with a tensioner etc, and they're meant to take 1/8 or 3/32 chains.
I guess this means the 9spd ring up front won't fit the chains, so i'll have to buy a singlespeed specific ring?
But looking at singlespeed rings, they mostly say (these two for example http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/CROOSS/on-o ... ing#basket and http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=28730 ) that they can take 9spd chains as well as 1/8 or 3/32..
So can i run a 1/8 or 3/32 chain on a 9spd front chainring?
Cheers.

Yes you can run a 9 sp ring though there is a small increase of the risk of the chain slipping if your chain or tensioner isnt adjusted properly, single speed rings have taller teeth to help cut the risk. If your a very heavy or powerful rider I would say go with the SS specific ring just to be on the safe side.
Plus SS rings usually look nicer without the ramps, pins and funny angled teeth you get on a derailler ring.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0 -
righto, cheers.
might just go ss specific anyway, saves hassle and probably comes out cheaper in the end0
