derailleur cleaning

Hello,

what can i use to clean the derailleur ? then does it need oiling ? if so what oil ?

Any bike degreaser and water. Dry well, then a few drops of teflon oil to the spring, pivots and jockey wheels.

Whether it's right or wrong. I normally clean, degrease, then rinse and dry.

Once I've done that, I'll spray thoroughly with wd40 to extract any water from cleaning. Leave overnight. Then I'll lube up.

I like to take the little sprockets out too. Get them apart, clean, and cram with grease. They run smooth and silent afterwards.
