Problem being his past. UCI have been putting the vibe out that anyone with a dodgy past will not be able to work in the backroom of a team. It's a shame but I am impressed Sky have stuck with the policy even though they would love to have DM on board.

'cos that's really going to work! Halve the employment pool in one go whilst opening up many new opportunities!

Their policy is to not hire unlucky people.

    Had a boss like this.

Got me to print of all 200 odd CV applications to a job.

He cut the pile in half, threw one half away, and announced that 'we don't hire unlucky people'.

Good job I was just temping...

Bloody marvellous guys - so proud of everyone of you.

Cav - you are a legend.

World Champion! Sounds great, doesn't it?

    +1

I wouldn't have thought so! The UCI wouldn't dare or be capable of getting their act together to make such a policy. Sky is a different matter... That is their own policy they have chosen to run with... which is fair enough. I've no doubt DM will be backroom at a team in the future and I'm sure he'll do very well at it.

I also think he did well captaining the team and calling the shots. Nice one Millartime.
  • 'Team GB' totally owned the race. In fact I haven't seen anything like it since the days of USPS / Discovery. A truly amazing performance...

Dunno why. But I'm supraised no HTC road and TT world champ jerseys have been put on show. Thought they would want to be milking this as much as possible.

Quote from the Guardian sums up the achievement nicely:

"Now, given the sport's greater visibility, perhaps the public will come to recognise that nothing, not even a yellow jersey in Paris, stands higher among cycling's achievements than a race rendered unusually demanding by its length, by the division of the riders into national rather than trade teams (and the horsetrading that sometimes results from that unfamiliar arrangement), and by an all-or-nothing commitment that pervades the day"

Chapeau Cav and Team GB. Truly outstanding

I don't think they care any more....new places to advertise, new money to spend etc
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Not so much the sponders but the actual team. I mean Martin and Cav have had massive support from the back staff. It's something they shoudl be proud of to have both RR & TT champs in the team.

Whilst most of them will be pleased do you reckon they'll be more bothered about getting that publicity or just adding that information on their CVs and getting out into the marketplace to find future employment?

No course not. But still if a team is going to end. You may as well end it on a high. I kind of mean this more for a Highroad point of view and less of a HTC one.
  • it's the first time that one team had both Road and TT champs at once, yes?
