Oxford Magnum (about £50)

Got the sainsbury's lock in my hand and I can't tell the difference, 18mm bar 270mm long.

    +1

    Might get one of those.
  • Thanks. worth getting a couple to leave at regular stops for that price.

Even assuming for maybe a better quality lock, it shows what a mark up the brand names are piling onto their stuff

I think the one you linked too is slightly longer (32cm instead of 27cm).

But as you say, either ways it seems very good value.

  • There look (from the photos) to be some subtle differences in the position and shape of the notches in the shank.

Remember that, just as the Chinese are past-masters at making fakes, the "big name" supermarkets are past masters at making you think that the own-brand item was made by the branded company by copying them closely as they can get away with.

I'm not saying that the lock is a copy or that it's no good - just be careful.

Not related to the lock, but my son had his bike stolen from our garage (the same day I posted this) - just a bad coincidence :(

They had put there bikes in the garage but not locked the door it was taken (about 8pm) 1/2 hour after they put there bikes away, changed the door so that you can not longer open it from the outside.

We live in a quite village and the kid's are always out, someone obvioulsy took a shine to his bike (specialized Hotrock FS - about £300).
