Hardrock or Rockhopper?: Purchase advice needed please.

My first post here so be gentle please.

After a time away from mountain biking, I returned earlier this year riding my old Scott Yecora and now I'm in the market to upgrade to something better.

I've looked at and ridden several bikes from different manufacturers in the last week and hands down (for me anyway) Specialized have given me the best rides.

I am now faced with 3 options from my LBS:

1. 2012 Hardrock Sport £500.00
2. 2011 Hardrock Pro £500.00
3. 2011 Rockhopper Comp £750.00

My dilemma is trying to get my head around which one is the best value for money in terms of longevity and ability to upgrade the parts. I know the RH frame is of better quality than the HR-is the frame that much better that the decision is a no-brainer?Should this alone be enough to influence my choice?

Any advice gratefully received.

Always go for the best frame. If you get well into it (and you will when your are enjoying it on a nice bike) you'll end upgrading certain parts anyway. No point in the if you haven't got a decent frame.

In a word - YES.

If you want a frame that will keep you happy for a long, long time - go for the Rockhopper

It's a proper XC bike, light, strong, rigid & comfortable

A fantastic base to upgrade to as & when you need/want to. The new ones have an even better frame than my '06 and I can chuck this thing at anything and it just bounces back

Don't get a Hardrock.

Get the most expensive rockhopper you can find!
