I'm in the market for a new Hybrid, and have been looking at the bottom of the range specialised sirrus. But I've found what looks to be like an interesting bargain, a FELT hybrid for £300 ,a very reasonable price for the spec (though I have to admit the lists of specifications is mostly double dutch to me), Does anyone know anything about or have any experience of these bikes?

many thanks in advance?

You don't give a link, is it Rutland cycles?
Doesn't look bad, but another £100 would get you the model up that has a notable improvement, esp. on the brakes.

  • Many thanks for the reply,

yep it's from rutland cycling via ebay.

£300 is my initial limit, though I'm sure I will go higher as all the 2011 sirrus bikes have gone it seems.
Also unless anyone had had direct experience of a bike and could recommend it, I would be loathe to by on spec, online, without trying it

It's a tricky one, balancing initial investment against the likelihood it will get nicked! (I live in London)

here is the link, hopefully it will work.

I was looking at the QX85 from Rutland but wanted to try them to check which size frame. Unfortunately in the time I waited they sold out of the 58mm which turns out to be the one I needed.

I did go into Rutland and try them out though.

They are very heavy compared to Sirrus & some of the other options but well specced and well put together. For the money Rutland are selling them at they are an absolute bargain.

I didnt like the white of the QX75 so never really looked at it, but the spec upgrade of the QX85 would make it well worth the extra investment in my mind.

I am now looking at a fair bit more - £600ish for the Sirrus Comp or the Whyte Portobello - they are masses lighter though and the Sirrus has a carbon fork so could be more comfortable over bumps.
  • Ah thankyou. That's exactly the kind of info I was after. The weight is a real dealbreaker for me. Though will give the felt serious thought I think the specialized is looking good for me!
  • I have a 2008 QX80 that has been my daily commuter for the last three years (just moved up to a drop bar road bike). It's been a very good bike, solidly made and definitely up the cross-country-bike-with-slicks end of the hybrid continuum, rather than road-bike-with-flat-bars. If you don't need something that solid you might not want to lug the weight around and the Sirrus could be a better bet.
  • Yep, I'm definitely after something lighter, took a sirrus's for a test ride, love it, and am looking at a sirrus elite now. Just got to try and order one, there's a callback on the front forks on the 2011 models, leading to a 3 week delay,so I might have to shift my sights to a trek or smething. Maybe a Felt who knows!
