BikeRadar forum upgrade - please read

Hello all,
Over the next few weeks, the BikeRadar forums are going to be upgraded from phpBB 2 (with various hacks) to phpBB 3. We want to have this done by mid-October and due to the massive amount of data that we have to migrate, the forums could be offline for up to a week. A further update will be posted nearer the time.
The main reason we are doing this is for stability and to accommodate the size of the forum. We don't want a repeat of the situation where the forum "filled up" after a mere 16 million posts and no-one could post.
It also means some extra functionality for users, such as improved private messaging, ability to subscribe to forums and bookmark topics, drafts, attachments (if we decide to enable them) and a few other things.
It will look a bit different but it will still be blue and white.
That's all for now - stay tuned.

Hi Jeff
first I should say great site, very thorough etc.
regarding the forums - can I ask that a button or link be added perhaps to users profile pages that allows us to view recent forums we have started, added to so it is easaier to follow and glean info from without having to resort to tens of emails into our personal mail accounts.
Hoep this is a goer as it would really speed things up for me... fingers crossed.
many thanks...Now where is that Danbury thread? You know your a Cyclist when a surgeon tells you you need a heart valve replacement and you ask if you have a choice between Presta and Schrader.0 -
You mentioned that there would be new features coming during the last forum outage, but I've yet to see any of them.
(well, apart that is, from it being able to function )0 -

Out of interest, will the search functionality be getting any better?
Cheers.

Update: The BikeRadar forum upgrade will start on Monday, 31st of October and should be finished by Thursday, 3rd November.
During that time the forum will be unavailable for posting and new registrations. We do apologise for what will no doubt be a difficult time for some of you but we're fairly certain that the BikeRadar Forum Experience(tm) will be better in the long run.
In the meantime, we recommend more saddle time!Jeff Jones
