Size recommandion for a Pinarello FP2

Height 5" 10
Leg 32"

Ordered A 57 from wiggle but in the process of sending the bike back and ordering a smaller size, can anyone advise me on a suitable size to order please?

Been told 55 from wiggle and 53 from a local bike shop

Thanks.

  • My friend has a FP2 - he is 5'10 with a 32 inside leg and also has the 57cm frame. He did however have to change the stem from the 120mm that came with the bike to a 100mm as he felt too stretched on the bike. He has standover clearance - just, and uses 172.5mm cranks.

He says that if he buys another Pinarello in the future he will go for a 55cm as he believes it will give him a more flexible setup.

So on that basis it sounds like the 55cm frame may be your best option but worth thinking about the stem length too if you feel stretched out whilst riding.

  • Thank you

Think I go for the 55cm, due to the 40% wiggle were offering I was unable to test ride the bike,

Hopefully city-link turns up to collect the bike and by next week drops off my new shine 55cm FP2 depending on stock levels

  • Hey Markness,

Was the FP2 up for £1,199? Saw it at that price Monday lunchtime, gave it some thought, decided to go for it andI tried to order one on Monday night but by the time I got home, Wiggle had put the price back up to £1,599. Can you confirm how much you paid?

As for sizing, think the 55 will do you just right. I saw on a Pinarello 57 frame in Evans and it was far too big for me...then sat on a Pinarello 53 belonging to a friend and it was too small.
  • I'm 5 8.5, 31 inside leg and went for the 53 from wiggle.
JUST about ok, sized bigger than my 54 Spesh.

As mentioned above, the stem had to be replaced: I went for a 90 and it's ideal.

Suggest a 55 would be ok, just remember they are bigger fitting.

    Btw you'll love it!
  • Yea i paid £1,199 bargain last week arrived Monday was gonna order the 55 just in cased there was a pricing error lol and receive a refund on the 57, but had the same issue with the price increase. so hopefully they do a exchnage[/b]

I am 5 9" and ride a 53, but could easily go down a size - I'd go for a 53 if I were you. Pinarello measure form the centre of the BB to centre of top tube, which is often shorter than the top tube. A size 53 will have a 55cm top tube, which is probably the best measuremnt to use anyway. At 510" I'd suggest a size 53, which will gove you a top tube of 55cm.

The top tube length does seem to be the imporatant one.

I am 5' 11" with a 32" inside leg. I bought a large Boardman (55.5cm) without realising its TT was 57cm. It was too big for me. Luckily I managed to swap it for a medium which is a 53cm frame but with a 55.5cm TT.

    This fits perfectly.

Also, if you read the reviews of the bike at Wiggle, there are many people who have bought it and picked a smaller frame to the one they usually ride.

  • See my thread here I satrted recently...

    http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopi ... 42&start=0

    I ordered a 57 and on further investigation changed to a 55.
The bike is currently in transit from Wiggle so I will let you know how it measures up when it gets here.

I tried stockists near to me so I could size one up properly but they were sold out. Even if they did order one for me they couldn't touch Wiggle on price, as you'd expect i suppose.

Cracking bargain, £800 off (providing it fits  )

Bike radar recently posted an article on A Team Sky Pros Dogma. He is 6ft and rides a 54. But at around the same time a thread was started that included the info that pros ride a size smaller (backed up by the fact that the pro was using a 145mm stem).
I have compared geometry charts form my old bike and Pinarello and this also seems to confirm things.

Finger crossed I think I have made the right decision with the 55. I'm sure though that the 57 was going to be too big.

Although I am trying to convince myself that I haven't made a massive **** up!
  • Thank you all for you replys

Confused now in the best size to get, between 53 or 55 and how much of a differents will 2cm make on the top tube, this will be my first road bike. Need to try find a shop that stock both sizes.

Mine arrived last week after a slight delay.

Very happy with the sizing (55).

    Any update from 'Markness'?
