Hi all

Just got my Cannondale Synapse and it's been supplied with Schwalbe Lugano tyres. I've seen a lot of posts where people are putting winter tyres on their bikes so should I be considering this with the Luganos (eg swap to gatroskins) or will they be fine over the winter?

Apologies if it's a numpty question but it's my first road bike and not sure what the difference is between tyres etc

Thanks

    Jimbo,
Im using Luganos on my Trek winter bike. I find their ok in the wet and not had any problems with them at all. Pretty robust tyre if you ask me.
Try them first mate, you might save yourself afew quid.

  • I think they are quite cheap and cheerful. I don't think puncture protection is great

Bought a Synapse myself earlier in the year, also fitted with Lugano's. Punctured second time out, and swapped them for Gatorskins and no problems since. Could have been unlucky but.....
  • Schwalbe Lagunos = punctures. Kept trying them on and off a few times in the year always punctured within 200 miles.

Using Schwalbe Blizzard Sport for a while now. No punctures in the last 1000 miles. Easily found on the Internet for £10 each - so cheap too.

Thanks for the replies guys, if the only advantage of swapping tyres is the possibility of less punctures I think I'll just give the Lugano's a go and see how I get on.

    Cheers

  • keep the tyre pressure at their optimum and check em regularly for nicks and embedded nasties

I've got luganos and had about 1 puncture in 2000 miles. I suppose it comes down to where you ride and maybe a massive dose of luck.

I think your right Pst. We all ride on differant roads and surfaces. If you happen to ride on roads that have alot of flint on um, your gonna get punctures no matter what tyre your running.
