Post test equipment?

What happens to all the kit you test? I appreciate the £8k superbikes go back to their manufacturers, but is that true for everything, for example the multitools and saddles you test? I wondered if there was an opportunity for these to be "won" by the forum members in a random draw or something? If the winners agreed to pay postage it wouldn't even cost anything? Or do the testers just have shed loads of equipment sat at home that they are never going to use?

The vast majority of the product tests that appear in BikeRadar are conducted by the magazines in Future's cycling group, so they're not the site's to dispose of.
In general, spendy stuff goes back - not just £8k uberwonderfabbobikes but wheels, suspension forks etc, or goes into long-term test. And that's not a euphemism for 'freebies for journos': we have a band of testers who provide info to Warren Rossiter, Steve Worland and Guy Kesteven on how stuff goes in the longer term.John Stevenson0 -
interesting question. what about the kit - the lids, shorts, shoes, etc. I'm guessing the manufacturers don't usually ask for the shorts back afterwards?0

Oddly enough, they don't - and you probably don't want them either!John Stevenson0 -
Yeah to be honest my thoughts were more aimed at shiney bits of kit, not sweaty used clothing! I'd be quite open to having some size 44 shoes though! (hint, hint!)0
