M770 or M780 Pedals?

In the market for some new SPDs, looking at M770 and M780 versions of the shimano XT pedals.

They can be had for roughly the same price at the moment so is it worth going for the M780 'race' version or will they be less durable than the M770 'trail' version. Not too bothered about the weight, just want to go for the better pedal for everyday trail riding as they are similar prices.

    I've been riding the XTR version of the 780 all year (they were out first) and bought the XT 780 for my cross bike. Great pedals, they do feel like a bigger platform compared to the older style. Mud clearance is still rubbish though.
