  • congrats, hope you enjoy your bike,

i dont want to slate halfords, they do what they do and make good money from it but when you get a chance get a lbs to safety check the bike - maybe cost a tenner or so.

I have to agree, I love my Carera TDF, but Halfords did put the handlebars on off-centre and when I had my LBS check out a bottom bracket noise, it was from being over tightened. Just check it over, no matter who you buy from.

+1. No problems with mine but I know folk who have had. For instance, I ordered my son a 24" wheel and they built a 20". Just out of interest, why a TDF when 1k to spend?
The only disability in life is a poor attitude.

C2W is far from free as HMRC has killed many of the real benefits (increased the far market value %, added VAT to monthly rentals.

Anyway, welcome to the club, it's not a bad starter bike (and I think it makes more sense than spending over 1k for your first road bike, plus adding the kit adds up quickly).

Be warned though - It does get addictive and it can be an expensive hobby!
  • with my c2w i can only get max £500 mouth so had been looking at a hybrid around £400 but with chats on here changed to road bike and for around £400 the tdf was well reviewed and was reduced a couple of times so looked even better for £270  yeah spent abit on kit aswell :? but im looking forward to getting sum miles in, only managed take it out up n down road 2day because didnt manage get it till late and by the time i'd checked all nuts and bolts, set seat up and fitted extras was getting late, felt bit weird(use to mtb) but expected it to be, but felt good, and quick, will be taking it on the commute to work 2morrow 16mile round trip so get a better feel for it then!!! but cant wait get the miles clocked on the bike computer :D
  • Enjoy that is all that counts
    Fcn 5
    Cube attempt 2010
  • but felt good, and quick,
Wait till you try clipless peddles, it's like someone fitted a turbo to your bike! 8)

But it is a good deal, I'm tempted to buy one to leave at the train station when commuting (then I won't cry when it get's nicked).
