FWIW I have
old steel framed fixed gear with 23mm gatorskins and I run them at 7bar
alu framed road (summer) bike with 23mm lithions and I run them at 7 bar also
I find that 6.5 bar or less it feels draggy and 8bar or more I lose grip"I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"

I run mine at around 61,000 torr. I could of course pump them up to a unit that everyone understands but where's the fun in that?0

I run 120 f+r.
However this is on a more comfy CF frame that soaks the bumps noticeably better than my old alu frame/ CF fork combo (which i used to run at 90-100). When i first got the CF frame i thought that the tires were soft as it was so good at soaking the bumps. This isn't true for all CF frames tho, some can be stiff as hell and v uncomfortable, or so i have heard.0 -

You definitely will feel the benefit if you let a little air out from that :-)
I'm currently running at about 7Kg/cm^2 myself, but will try reducing to about 1100mmH2O to see how I get on0 -

To stop the problem recurring, I'll pump them up to 9500 fully loaded 747s per square furlong tonight.0 -
I have just got onto a road bike for the first time...
finally got a decent pump and got the pressures for gatorskins 23s up to about 110, according to the pump gauge. Maybe because I am 90+kgs, but the whole thing felt really wobbly and twitchy with a lot of roll in the corners at lower pressures...
So as ever, down to what you like...Proved by testing to be faster than a badger.

Interesting experience. I've just done a 20 miler on 80 psi front and rear. Observations:
Speed around the same, and certainly not slower.
Less road buzz, particularly on rough tarmac.
Bike feels more planted esp. at the front.
Possible better resistance to sidewinds.Purveyor of "up"0 -
Both Michelin and Schwalbe do not recommend pressures below 6 bar for their 23mm road tyres (Pro4 and Ultremo)
6 bar is 87 psi
So 80 psi is a bit on the low side
If you want to go lower than 6 bar then a wider tyre is a good idea0 -
That was the problem with my tyres, min was 100psi.
When looking at mtb with min at 40psi, I always set at 30psi.
Mainly for comfort as it has an old Judy xc fork.
Just thought I would do the same with roadie and it is now a very nice bike to ride.
After a certain age, comfort is needed, solid tyres are too painfull.
Jejames have still not sorted prob with mudguard, cs not a strong point.
Glad bike was purchased elsewhere.0
