Fox clothing - am I just unlucky?

Over the last few months I've bough several items of Fox clothing - shorts, gloves and a jersey. And in the past 2-3 weeks every item has started to fall apart, seams coming undone, materials tearing etc. even though I take great care washing them and I haven't crashed.

Is this common? Is Fox clothing really that bad?

  • Cannot fault it myself. Have a pair of riding shorts and two pairs of gloves, none of them have had any issues at all.
Perhaps you can take this up with the retailer or distributor

I've got a shirt and shorts and they're both excellent quality, much better than Altura stuff I've had. I'd definitely return them if they're faulty.
  • I go through a lot of gloves but everything else has lasted many years.
  • plenty of offs trying to learn to ride DH this summer - no probs with Fox shorts & jersey though

Got a three year old top that's taken plenty of abuse with no signs of wear. Think you may just be unlucky.

I had some Fox gloves, I was disappointed with the feel of them, they felt a lot cheaper than the Thors I normally get, but in terms of longevity there wasn't really anything wrong with them.

All my Fox stuff has been bulletproof tbh. The really lightweight stuff isn't all that tough, obviously- I got a very thin summer jersey that's all open mesh and thin fabric and it didn't do too well in a big crash in france, but that's just what happens when you buy superlight kit.

  • Lots of Fox heretoo. No problems really despite some big offs. Have just killed one pair of gloves though. Mind you, they did take four years of quite hideous abuse before failing...

  • 2 pairs of fox shorts, can't complain about them. both are starting to wear a bit thin on the rear now, but i have had them for over 2 years and wore them when i cycled end to end so they have both done pretty well i think!

Did they come from a dodgy Ebay trader - lots of fake stuff out there?

  • got s couple of Fox bits - pretty pleased with it so far, love the Reflex gloves!
  • I have Fox baggy shorts, fox socks and two shirts. My sons have shirts too and we have had no problems with any of them at all. Fox is one of the first brands that comes to mind when sourcing new gear. The stuff we have has been bought over the last three years. I don't suppose any manufacturer is immune from the occasional human error or material defect.

    You're unlucky.

I've got a couple of pairs of the Sergeant shorts and a couple of tops - no problems with them falling apart, just the normal wear and tear.
