my Cinelli XPerience came with a Cinelli Vai basic stem, which has performed fine but I know they are not the lightest in the world. So I want to swap the stem to my winter hack and put something lighter on.

There is a lot of choice and im getting a bit lost so am after some advice! here are my criteria:

Lighter than the Vai
Strong enough to take me (I'm 15 stone though trying to get lighter!)
Not mega expensive, though I don't mind paying for something decent

Anyone got any suggestions or stems they swear by? Thanks

not having a go, but seriously, why do you want a lighter stem?

lighter stems can be flexy, i just changed to a heavier, stiffer one, for about 30g more it's just better than the lighter one

the vai is listed as 168g for a 110mm

an überlight ax lightness stem is 100g lighter (for 110mm), and about 30x the cost, but 100g makes sod all difference to overall weight of you+bike
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

    You make a good point!

My winter hack bike needs a new stem and I thought I could swap the bombproof Cinelli to it, and get myself a new one. I don't really want to get into weight-weeinie mode, but if there are two models with similar costs but one is lighter then I might trim a few grams here and there.
