Seen a few Cambers on here but not many. If anyone has one they wish to show off just pop them on here.

Here's mine to get us going -

Upgrades so far:
RS Reba RL (push lock)
Bontragar Race SL Stem
Thomson Elite Lay Back Seat Post
Shimano Deore two piece chainset (external BB)
Shwalbe Nobby Nic Evo 2.25 tyres (with the white stripe for added tartiness)
Shimano XT rear Mech
Shimano SLX shifters
Shimano XT SPDs
Avid Elixir 5 disc brakes
Superstar Components Grips (red, mmm).

Weighs in at an impressive 28lb with pedals and bottle cage.

Looking for a saddle now - may get a Charge Spoon. Any other suggestions out there?

  • Nice elite - looks good with the white bars. How you finding those tyres? I've put some Nobby Nics on mine but I recon the Spec Captain tyres had more grip.

how much clearance do you have with the new tyres? with the captain 2.0's there is little clearance, especially with reba's!
how does it cope with the 2.25's?

  • this is mine......

    camber.jpg

changed out the seatpost as the oe one bent on the first ride, will be going reverb if santa is in a good mood!
got a race face atlas bar, nice and wide, the rear mech broke so the lbs sorted me out with a 2012 rear mech. complemented the gearing with a bbg bashguard and blackspire stinger. spinning on some superstar pedals
its a lovely bike to get back into the sport
  • Man, seeing these bikes are depressing me. Started saving for a new bike, and will be getting an enduro or camber, maybe even a pitch. So hard not to go into the bike shop because I just see the bikes I want.

Those are some very different styled bikes, i used to own a pitch and now own a stumpjumper and i'd reccomend the stumpjumper over the pitch for that style of riding, its so much lighter and better specced, and due to the better style of FSR it feels like more travel than the pitch, feels more like it's coil sprung believe it or not.

Here's my Camber Pro. I used to have a Stumpjumper FSR 2010 and before that a Stumpjumper FSR 2008, but the Camber is spot on for my type of riding.

As you can see not completely standard anymore. Upgraded the wheels to Crank Brothers Cobalt XC in Black Gold and running a tubeless setup with the 2Bliss Specialized Captain S works at the back and the Purgatory S works at the front with some sealant. Other saddle and some Crank Brothers grips.

  • how do they compare to the stumpjumper as ive got one but never had a go of a stumpjumper to compare myself

I personally think that for the type of riding I do (trail centres and routes from the mags) that the Camber is a better bike for me. I had the 2008 Stumpjumper FSR and a 2010 one and I liked the 2010 one over the 2008 with the new rear shock layout. That layout makes the rear end more supple to ride. But I didn't liked it that you sit higher on the bike due to the 1" more travel. And that makes it sometimes more awkward to ride the bike.
The Camber is more fun to ride and I like that it climbs better due to the fact that the front end is lower.
But again that is what I like about the Camber. And with the new very stiff and light wheels the bike was transformed completely again in a big positive way.

paultownsend: sorry for the late response. Tyre clearance with the Nobby Nics 2.25 is fine - they are actually narrower than the original Spec 2.20 that came with the bike. I've got the Spec tyres on at the moment as they are better in the mud than the Nobby's.

    Changes to come:

Saddle - tried a few from my collection but not found the right one yet!
Bars - carbon when I can afford - probably Easton EC70
wheels - on my way to recking these so will need new soon

Isn't the position of the cateye wireless sensor a bit vulnerable, if it gets a knock it will get pulled into the spokes with the direction of the wheel?

Because I've got itchy feet I'm thinking of selling up. Any ideas what a sensible price would be for this?

Cheers in advance for any thoughts.

only just got on the upgrading really, so far:

    Renthal far bar, 20mm
    Shimano D&B with external BB.
Maxiss high rollers front and back
Just ordered a Thomson X4 50mm stem too

Next on the list is a lighter wheelset, either crank brothers cobalts, or mavic crosstrails. Then fox floats, but they are pricey upgrades

  • 2011 Expert M here. Changed the grips, added spud pedals and had a general tinker, but otherwise it's pretty much bog-standard. Spot on for the riding I do and a very nice bike indeed.... Good to swap between that and the 2011 Hardrock Pro for hardtail action.

The Expert further up this thread that's not the black/silver/green combo, is that an ex-demo?
