People who have the C24s will suggest the C24s - people who have the Mavics will suggest the Mavics - people who don't have either will probably suggest something else.

My suggestion is to get the C24s.

  • Happy with my C24's, you soon get used to new wheels and take them for granted though.

Fantastic set of wheels, over the moon with them.

Apparently Mavic wheels are better put togetther, but the shimanos roll + ride better than the mavics. This is according to a number of staff I spoke to in a number of bike shops.

  • I had the same dilema with these two wheelsets. Both are good, the DA's are lighter but I think the SL's might be a bit stiffer. I also thought the SL's were a bit more 'bling'. Got my bro to choose for me in the end as I just couldn't decide. He went for the SL's.

I'm a big chap (6ft 2") and have found the SL's are very good for putting the power down and are noticably lighter than my Aksiums. I also like the fact that you can adjust the bearings in seconds with the tool provided.

I think you'd be pleased with either wheelset tbh. ;)

Looks like teh DA's it is. Order going in this afternoon

Unless anyone can advise on a major problem with them. I have read that the rim walls are very very thin, 1.3 mm Mavic's v only 0.7 mm on DA, but no one has mentioned that to be a problem

Also it seems that no one can actually suggest a better alternative wheel at that price

    Thx for all your help

I'm too late to vote  but I've got the DAs and some SLRs which are quite a bit lighter than the SLs (carbon spokes etc) but heavier than the DAs. I have to admit I bought the Mavics cos they look cool (IMO) but didn't really expect them to be better than the DAs. I think that the DAs give a plusher ride and are possibly faster but the Mavics ride well even and climb OK for there weight. Possibly better at high speed but that might be in my head. Chuffin expenesive the Mavics too.
