Worth Upgrading?

Hi,
I've got a GT Avalanche 1.0 disc 2008 bike.
I'm considering upgrading the forks to Recon Gold RL's from Merlin Cycles for £180 to replace the Suntour forks that came with the bike.
Do you think this bike is worthy of upgrading or would I be better off just saving the money for a new bike next year.
I ride mainly woodland tracks & cross country so don't need anything more than a hardtail.
I know supersonic rides GT's so would be interested in his opinion on the Avalanche frame & bike.
At the moment the bike is standard apart from the grips & tyres which I changed.
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks!

They're Suntour SR X-100's on there at the moment & don't feel that great at all.
I'm resaonably heavy too at about 105kg0 -
new forks would do a world of good as the ones that come with the GT arent that great.London2Brighton Challange 100k!

The x100 is a decent fork, the Recon RL is better - be worth upgrading, as I bet the former is old and tired now.0

What a fail of the English language above me. 100mm or 120mm forks make no difference, it's the quality of the fork that matters. The Recons should change the ride completely!0
