Spinergy Tiliums - bearing removal?

Hi all,

Looking to replace the cartridge bearings on the rear wheel of my spinergy tilium carbon wheels.

Freehub is off, bearings in question are exposed..... but there doesn't seem an easy way to drift them out.

Normally, the inner raceway of each bearing can be exposed from the other side to tap it out.

The central alloy tube inbetween the bearing at end each which pushes on the inner raceways when tightened up is the same inner diameter as the bearing ID, so looking down the hole is a smooth bore, nothing to get a drift on.....

do i need a proper extractor tool (expansion bolt or similar)

their online help guide simply says 'tap out' :)
Thanks

  • Without knowing those specific wheels Bhod, usually you'd use a strong bar, drift or screwdriver and lever the inner tube out of position, giving you access then to the inner race of the cartridge bearings.
Be aware, if you intend re-using the bearings, drift carefully, if you jar the inners you'l probably ruin them.
