Bought a pair of red anodised bore caps to fit my Hope x2s. Please can anyone help with the following questions. I've also just realised I need a 'special tool' - have ordered that as the aluminium is far to soft to bodge it.

1. I notice there a 2 different types of bore cap. I have been supplied the ones in the first link - the ones with the flat surface. This will only be finger tight as the Hope tool fits the star shaped side.

2. Not sure what is 'behind' the bore cap - will the brakes need to be bleeded after?

Cant beleive I'm going through all this for what is purely a bling item!

    The brake will need bleeding

basically the bore cap is behind the piston so when you remove it you'll loose fluid.

    Road: Tifosi Race Custom.
Do it all bike: Surly Disc Trucker 700c/29er
  • OK, thanks GKD. Never attempted that before. May wait until I can get the bike off the road for a while before I try.

It occured to me on the ride in to work the difference between the 2 products. The ones with the flat surface can only be tightened up from the inside, ie having to remove the piston.
