Hey all, bear with me, this could get long....

Just want to get some opinions really.. I currently ride this:
Enduro.jpg

But, I have a c2w voucher for a grand sitting in my drawer (halfords).. so, I'm kinda tied as to what to do with it. I originally had the idea of getting the new 2011 Boardman FS Team, which is undoubtedly exceptional value for money, and selling the Enduro, keeping one bike.

But, there are delays time and time again with this bike, and, I already have a fully in perfect working order, which I do enjoy riding!

So, I was browsing the site, and saw a few other bikes, which I have been interested in. As it's the 'cycle to work' scheme, I wouldn't mind getting something I could ride the 20 miles each way to work on, thats not going to ruin me, so there is the option of getting the Boardman Hybrid Comp to pootle to work, and then also go back to my DJ roots, with the Voodoo Shango as well. )or, a 29'er HT to see if the inner hippy in me enjoys it!

So, I have a dilemma. Do I get a new fully, sell the Enduro and put funds towards tarting the bike up, or head down the n+1 route, and start a 'stable'?

I'd use all of the bikes, the only issue would be space if I went from 1 to 3, but I'm sure I could find some room indoors/hanging above TV ;)

What would you do?
Cheers in advance,
Stav x

Just a quick note, I have asked, and it does appear possible to get 2 bikes with one voucher.. my work don't care, and the Halfords I'd be getting them from don't seem fussed either :)
  • The other option may be to look round your local bike shops, some of them may accept the Halfords voucher and Halfords should also be able to source any bike you want.

Good advice, thanks... I have looked around, and by far the best deals I can find are the Boardmans.. fantastic spec for a great price.. if I was to go spesh/trek etc, I'd be hard pressed to find the same kit on bikes at the same price!

    My line of thinking...

The other half isn't so happy about this idea... meh
  • So what is the issue with the Boardman 2011 stock? Did halfords give you any indication of timescales?

If you think your enduro is perfeect for the riding you do then i'd go with n+1.

Thats what I was thinking.. I just like shiny new things, so was thinking a new FS could be in need.. lol, but, the whole n+1 has been creeping up on me!! :)

hgogo - The issue is, every week I get told it'll be in stock, I then get a call on that day to be told it's sitting at head office, then it's delayed due to adverse weather, so on and so on.. which is giving me time to think about my options! It's been going on for about 4 weeks now, and as a person working in Customer Service, it goes a long way if I get good service.

(granted, I'm also a bit impatient!)
  • Get a road bike (not a hybrid) and start a stable with something in either corner - the boardman road bikes are good value too.

Hmm... I just don't know if I'm ready to go full roadie yet...

Popping to Halfords later to browse again, so will keep an open mind, see if I can have a quick blast on the hybrid and roadie round the car park... cheers Paul :)

4 Weeks isn't too impatient. But if they are out of stock, they are out of stock!

I only ask as i'm interested in purchasing one through cycle to work. We have to order the bike through Halfords.
But, I thought the limit was £1000? Are you paying the extra £500 on top of the voucher?

The Boardman FS Team is £999 buddy :)link here

I'd be going for the lower end one, with the Sektors etc. Still stonking value for money though!

I'ts either that one bike and sell the Enduro, or keep the enduro and toy with the idea of 2 x £500 bikes :)

Our limit is £1000 too :(

    Ah ok.
I rang my local halfords today (i'm in SE london), the closest halfords that have it in stock is Enfield or Chelmsford!
Have you had a chance to ride one yet to check it fits? Or did your local store agree to order one in before you pay for it (i assume you haven't paid).

Not paid yet, I still have my voucher at home. They do have on on order for me (but if I did cancel the order, I'm pretty confident they'd sell it straight away anyway!), and I've had a sit on the small FS team which was a little too small, and tried a large HT (working on the assumption that the FS will have pretty much the same geometry as an uncompressed HT), and my 'nads were rubbing on the top tube.

    So, process of elimination really!

The small felt really nice though, well built, and even with flat tyres, the shocks felt pretty good! :)

Enfield/Chelmsford aren't too far from me.. M25 jobbie mostly.. hmm, tempting!

Even if they don't sell it i'm sure another branch would ask for it to be sent to them.
Thanks for the answer.Just make sure you ring Halfords before you set off to check they still have one there.

Personally I wouldn't buy 2 bikes, just one good bike. You will only want to upgrade in furture!
