Anyone own one of these? I spotted it for £1100 online. Is this a good bike?

  • I'd go for one ahead of a Via Nirone for £900 ;-)
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos
  • haha, thanks :)
  • The Mortirolo is a good bike - I had a Via Nirone a few years back for my winter bike, good enough bike but didn't use it as much as I'd planned as I used my Kuota in all weathers, so sold it on. Also I prefer Campag - is there any way you could try the bikes out? If not, you need to decide whether it's worth £200 for the carbon option (or whichever one you think looks best)

It's a lovely bike to behold and ride. I found it a little undersized in terms of sizing due its rather compact geometry so make sure you swing a leg over it before buying. Whether the one you are looking at is worth £1100 will depend on a few factors, not least age.
  • Its a 2010 and new. I tried a 55cm Bianchi on which was fine. This is a large - 56cm so should size ok.

    mmmm decisions...

  • If I wanted a wilier I'd find the extra for this http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/wilier-i ... 66077.html

The Italian bikes at that price are all pretty basic and weighty and can be beat performance wise but I think the wiliers in particular look very nice especially with polished aluminium campag.
  • I've just placed a deposit on a medium!

Couldn't believe my luck when I found it with £700 off. Swung a leg over it a couple of weeks ago and loved it! Comfort wise, I preferred it to other bikes I've tried (inc. trek madonne, caad 10 and spesh tarmac!).

The fact that it's a 2010 model doesn't bother me one bit...I'm still grinning from ear to ear at my luck!

Not bad for a first road bike!!! :D
  • Welcome the wonderful world of Wilier :D

I've got a Mortirolo advertised as a Mirage kitted out bike.... in reality it has Mirage levers, Veloce chainset and rear derailleur, Record front derailleur. As a Mirage model it only came with Fulcrum R7 wheels, I think you will get R5s with the official Veloce model? £1100 sounds like a very good price.

As to my Mortirolo, I've had it about 7 months and I just love.
“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

  • Yep...it comes with fulcrum R5's...decent wheels I believe!
