Hello all
Has anyone else been unfortunate enough to have received a component from Planet X which was damaged?
I recently received a bike from Planet X however one of the metal lugs on the frame is bent. When I opened the box and took the frame out I gave it a quick once over and saw immediately that it was bent. I asked a bike mechanic in Singapore whether it could just be bent back out so that the rear wheel can fit in; he said not to do this. I called planet X and they asked for photos of the damage, they now also want photos of the box, which of course I will also provide.
Really worried that I will be stuck without a bike and down the price of the bike, transport etc.. Any comments on previous experiences are much appreciated. Hopefully my fears will not be realised.
Cheers

Planet X have a good reputation for service.
I'm guessing there will be a short delay as you send the bike back but thats one of the drawbacks of mail order ?
Was the box damaged ?0 -
In my experience, Planet X have been very good about things like this. I doubt you will need to worry.Mens agitat molem0

Hi Cougie
When the box arrived there were a couple small nicks and tears but overall the box appeared to be intact and in good condition. Today, following communication with PX, I compiled photos of the box and sent them off this afternoon (Singapore time). There was one hole at the base of the box, but nothing was in the proximity of where the hole occurred.
Thanks badger, very glad to hear that PX has a good track record. I went out on a limb ordering from the UK and was gutted when I couldn't take her for a spin. Fingers crossed everything will get resolved before the next tri.
Cheers

I would be surprised if they didn't want to know about damage to the box, so they can back charge the shipping agent.0 -

Thank you for your responses. Great to hear that PX have been good to deal with in your experiences. I am praying for the same. I would post a picture up but the old cut and paste doesn't seem to suffice on this page. If you can explain how I will.
I must say that I was a litle surprised by the quite minimal bracing and stuffing used in the box. I would have thought that for shipping of a bike to another country, especially a carbon bike, it would have been well and truly bubbled and shrinked and the box foamed or at least reinforced with more card. but no?[/img]0 -
Sorry this forum has beaten me. I have no idea how to post pictures. Woul be grateful if someone could tell me how?0

Why have you tried bending it back yourself? Are you not just returning the whole thing to PX?
What happens to your warranty now you have tried to fix it yourself, cracked the dropout, and then announced it on a forum where one of the owners of PX is a member?0 -

Chr1st you are a miserable lot. Quick to hurl abuse.. that because it's raining?
Following PX instructions I levered it back. I was told not to do so in Singapore due to weakened state of alu. Over course of communications PX instructed to do so. Attempt to mitigate in line with their instruction has made it worse.
Fact remains the bike arrived bent.0
