has anyone got 2 racing bikes with different frame geometry, set up exactly the same, if so could you put them next to each other and let me know are the front chainwheels and pedals in the same position and are the seats exactly side by side, thanks

  • I've got an FP2 and a Boardman team (quite similar geometry but not the same) and they have both been set up using the same basic measurements (had a fitting and got the numbers) but they always look different when I put them side by side - I think its because things like post and fork angles change distances as well as top tube length. I also found that I had to make some adjustments on the bike I didn't have fitted (to get comfortable) only small - but they did make a difference - again its probably becase of geometry differences.

IMHO if you've transferred a set of measurements its only a starting point for getting it set up - just change one element a bit at a time and see how it feels
  • Yes.
I have two racong bikes with similar size but not exactly same, but saddle height and saddle to bars is same. I also have to larger steel frames 58 cm and saddle height same as others and saddle to stem.

Would depend on bb drop, no?

Bikes can be set up the same but saddles will not necessarily be level with each other when sat side by side as it's the relationship with the bb that's governing saddle height from the floor.

Bb drop is the horizontal line through rear axle down to horizontal line through bottom bracket/ center of crank.

Im presuming this is the issue you're questioning and your 2 bikes don't appear to match?

This is correct, my track bike wont line up with road bike but pedal to saddle height is same.
The track bikes have higher BB height for clearence on bends of track.
  • Yes

    I have a Baordman and a virtuoso .

The saddle setback, saddle height and reach from saddle tip to hoods are all set the same to within 1-2 mm.
