If you do what have you replaced so far on your bike.

On mine I have replaced the pedals (MG1) and new tyres (Nobby Nics - tried this morning and they are great).
Has anyone changed the bars for longer ones yet?

  • Got an 8.1 and so far I've replaced the tyres with Panaracer Fire XCs and swapped the stem. Will replace the bars with some wider ones at some point.

Thanks Matt, did you get a shorter stem, what size? Is the bike handling much differently now? Thanks

  • Changed to V8s and Highroller up front & Ignitor on rear. SDG Bel Air on the way.

  • Got a 2009 Rockrider 8.2.

Replaced tyres with Nobby Nic (front) and Racing Ralph (rear). Also, got rid of pedals and replaced with white MG1's.

Love the bike - seriously good value and nothing gone wrong in almost two years of riding - perhaps I'm not riding it hard enough!!

Replaced Wheels / tyres and rear sprocket and mech..

Wheels because i wanted to go tubeless, have secondhand Mavic XC819s on Onyx hubs
Tyres because original Michelins are IMHO bloody awful, though some other posters claim its just a question of finding the right inflation pressure - i'm now a convert to Maxxis, ADvantages all round in winter, Larsen TT on back in Summer.
Rear X7 mech replaced by new 2010 X7 mech when the old one got completely smashed up. Rear Cassette replaced by SRAM 980 with 34 teeth with a SRAM 991 chain, why, because psycologically the extra teeth helped me get up a hill i'd never managed before, :D plus it was too good a price to say no - also the 991 chain stays really clean compared to the original 951.
And just for a bit of bling replaced all the gear cabling with some Jagwire sealed stuff.
Every time I go out, I think I'm being checked out, faceless people watching on a TV screen.....

Nice! Where are you exactly in the South of France? I come from Cagnes sur mer originally

Not far from Nîmes, so most of the riding is in the garrigue, rocks, roots, dust, very hot and dry for about 95% of the year and very wet, muddy and slippery for the remaining 5%

    A+

Thanks, the opposite here :D , well not really, we get a bit of dry weather but it is not the south of France, that's for sure.

I don't have a Rockrider 8.1 but anyone know why said bike is over £100 more expensive in France than it is in the UK? - Decathlon est le Francais, non?

Not sure, I was at Decathlon this morning and asked the the guy that deals with the maintenance and he was surprised as he said that the bikes should be the same price.
