Hi,

Replacing the cartridge bottom bracket on my bike as the current one is developing some play in the casing etc and clicking.

I am currently stuck between replacing it with the same bracket (£9.99) which is a VP BC73A or a more expensive (£18.00) Shimano UN54? Is the shimano worth the extra cost?

For the record the size is 63x113.

Cheers

Also anybody else have any recommendations? Can't be too pricy. It is for a Giant SCR 3.0

UN54 are very good. I've done thousands and thousands of miles on mine and it's still tight as a drum.

Great, sounds like I will order those, hopefully they will last twice as long as they are twice the price!

Any other suggestions are welcome though :P

++Saving money on bottom brackets really is false economy.

    Right,

Bought a shimano UN54 of chain reaction plus some grease and lube....

I'll see how it goes, very pleased with the prices on chain reaction compared to halfords....

Bumping as I have an SCR 3 2007 and need a new BB now as well.

Is the VP BC73A the bracket that comes with the bike. And would that be the same for all the SCR 3's (I have the womens XXS model).
