Hi,

I'm a regular on the mtb section, but venturing into here for some much needed advice.

I want to get a road bike on the cycle to work scheme (where I can go to my LBS for it, not halfords). Going to spend the full £1000 available on bike + bits. I have spd pedals, but need new shoes, so they will also have to be included in the price. May also include bib shorts/jersey.

Also, the LBS I'm getting it from, I used to work for, so get a discount, so may be able to get more for my money.

Need advice as to what bike I should get, will aim to compete by next summer at amatuer level, but will have general road use.

Any recommendations, does anyone need anymore info?

Thanks

I'd recommend that you buy the shoes cash, since you can't actually get them on C2W as they're not 'essential'. Unsure about jerseys and stuff but since you have the contacts at LBS I'm sure there's a way of steering around this.
The only disability in life is a poor attitude.
  • Why don't you ask one of your friends or former employer at the lbs where you worked what they consider to be the most suitable bike for you?

Surely they will guide you to the best that you can afford that they sell?

Yeh, but I worked for the LBS, and offered people advice before. There in the same boat as me, so will not really tell me much.

    Thanks for the advice however.
