to wheel or not to wheel

I have already done searches, so apologise if this has been done to death but, I always hear that wheels are the best upgrade you can have.
I have a 2010 GT series 2 road bike, so aluminium frame, carbon forks and stays. I love the bike and have been riding for just over a year, now in addition to a daily commute (on another bike) averaging a couple of 40 mile rides each weekend, some times less, and this weekend one of my rides was over 80 miles.
The bike is equipped with Mavic CXp22 rims with Shimano 105 hubs, and I weigh 13stone 4, but I am aiming to reduce that to about 12st 10.
I have about £300 that I could use, so the question - is it worth spending the money, will the gains be other than in my head, and what wheels would you recommend, or should I keep the hubs and have new rims / spokes fitted.
All responses appreciated, even sarcastic ones

Those wheels aren't bad. What tyres do you have ?0

I'd ride what you have until it wears out. There's nothing on there that warrants immediate replacement.- - - - - - - - - -

Thanks for the responses, was starting to think along the lines of stick with what I have, particularly as its getting close to winter, and then revisit the whole issue next spring0

Nowt wrong with Mavic CXP22's, they are bulletproof, well built and free running, you wouldn't see much (any) of an improvement from a £300 wheelset (apart from the obvious placebo affect) IMO.
I have 5000 miles on my CXP22's, and they still run perfectly true and well, and I am a big boy.0 -
Thanks for the replies guys, decision made, I will stick with what I have, it was the old bit of money burning a hole in the pocket syndrome0
