I guess I've been lucky up to now in not breaking a spoke, but I need to replace one on my hybrid. I assumed it was a case of a quick trip to the LBS, get one the correct size then fit it, but a quick search on Google threw up discussions on the perils and pitfalls of different kinds of spoke!

So my question is, "what is the best route to get a replacement spoke?" Thanks.

Dt swiss comp spoke, about 75p from your lbs. Cant go wrong with it!

Its not hyper critical, I've often replaced with different spec spokes.
If you have an expensive custom wheel, get a similar size/profile spoke from eg DT, Sapim, Wheelsmith. If it is just a bog std wheel, then anything that fits will do, you need the correct length.

If you are replacing DIY, get the same sized spoke nipple so you can re-use the old one.
