Is there a way to check the speed/class of a micro SD card?

It doesn't say on the micro SD's and I'd like to find out!

    wikipedia wrote:
The Speed Class Rating is the official unit of speed measurement for SD Cards, defined by the SD Association. The Class number represents a multiple of 8 Mbit/s (1 MB/s), the least sustained write speeds for a card in a fragmented state (Class 2, 4, 6) or the minimum non-fragmented sequential write speed (Class 10).[17]

These are the ratings of all currently available cards:[14][24]

    Class Speed
    Class 2 - 2 MB/s
    Class 4 - 4 MB/s
    Class 6 - 6 MB/s
    Class 10 - 10 MB/s

    did that help??
  • Ahh yeah, found that but i'm on a mac at the mo lol. will try it on the parents laptop when I get a chance :)

are the standards for a card to be called class 4/6/10 by law/legislation or is it different between manufacturers?

The class ratings are industry standard. Whether manufacturers stickl to them is another matter. A Cheap Class 6 card can often be slower than a quality Class 4 card. As always, beware cheap ebay fakes.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
