big front or big back

I have a replacement for my worn back tyre, it's a 25 rather than the pair of 23s on there at the moment, front is still in good nick
question is, do I put the 25 on the front and relegate the 23 to the rear, or put the wider straight onto the back ?
my thinking is that with the onset of winter I'd rather have better grip on the front.... so wider front, can anyone see a logical fail ???

Wider on the back for me - it takes more weight - so you need more air underneath you.0

Wider on the back for me too.0

I'd say wider back as it will provide better cushioning. Also, whenever I have had an off involving a slide it has been the back end I've lost.0
