Loving this thread. Its bringing back lots of nice memories. It does show our age though.

One of the young'uns will be along in a bit to say something like Big Brother or In The Night Garden!

  • This. End. Of. Thread.

We've got some half price cracked ice and miles and miles of carpet tiles,
T.V.s, deep freeze and David Bowie L.P.s,
Ball games, gold chains, whassa-names, and at a push,
Some Trevor Francis track suits from a mush in Shepherds Bush,
Bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush ...
    No income tax, no V.A.T.,
    No money back, no guarantee,
Black or white, rich or poor,
We'll cut prices at a stroke......

The original big brother theme tune is a good shout.

    I always liked Ironside.

Postman Pat, Fireman Sam, Thomas the Tank Engine, Inspector Gadget, and Pingu rinse them all though.

+! for Doctor Who (the original one) and Roobarb & Custard.

The Dangerman Theme as used as a theme tune by Mark & Lard when they did the evening slot on Radio 1. Obviously it's original use on TV is a bit before my time.

    some great calls peeps!

with you all on Dr Who, H5O.

    I quite liked knight rider.

As a Who fan, I like CSI intros.

Sport theme tunes usually give me goose bumps. That Soul Limbo or whatever the Beeb used to use for test matches, both C4, and ITV Tour de france. C4's is better, with the little "frere jaques" motif towards the end, but no complaints about the ITV version.

"The chain" for grand prix - and I hate GP!

Grandstand/Ski sunday - a derivation of some Bach

Horse jumping - Mozart's "Musical Joke" - We don't really hear enough of the full work, but think Mozart does Les Dawson (showing my age).

Don't hate Mambo no 5 that c4 used for cricket - but the C5 themes have been excerable!

    MotD just hackneyed.

I wish i could remember the C4 "Kabaddi" theme tune! Best. Game. Ever.

I think we have all hit the realisation that there was entertainment before the internet!

One of my cadets nearly had a melt down last night when he heard that I remember a time before the internet and mobile phones. You could see his brain melting just trying to conceive of such a time

I knew someone had to vote for Big Brother. Kids, eh?

Ironside was written by Quincy Jones and I have a version which is nearly 4 minutes long. Its brilliant.
Quincy Jones has a massive discography including theme tunes. He even wrote the music for The Italian Job (bet you never knew that)!

Wow - how did he find time to write all that whilst being a medical examiner - and having a cool theme tune himself?

a stand up comedian did a skit about this - he was talking to a youngster...

"hey, geezer - you're old! What did you do before mobile phones?"

"Simple. We made plans in advance, stuck to them, and set off in plenty time to be there!"
  • Streethawk - Only 1 series made but very good. I even had a Steethawk t-shirt

There is a solution, though it's a little extreme.

For friends who have a habbit of changing plans last minute - when I meet them I turn my phone off half an hour before I meet them.

Occasionally a reminder text that the plan won't change before I turn it off helps.

Streethawk - Only 1 series made but very good. I even had a Steethawk t-shirt

I used to imagine what would have easily been the best TV show ever.
A mash-up of Streethawk, Knightrider, The A-Team, Airwolf and Blue Thunder.

    Streethawk as scout.
    Airwolf as air support.
    The A-Team as infantry.
    Knightrider as ground support.
Blue Thunder as command and control.

Would have cost a bomb to make, but as a ten year old, I would have loved it!!!
