Did my first London to Brighton yesterday with do it for charity.
Part of my fundraising was if I raise a certain amount I would cycle back. So actually did my first 100miler and am even more than excited to say I am overjoyed at my comfort on the hills to Brighton. Managed to hold an incredibly high speed relative to most others around me up the hills. Finding How Lane, turner's hill etc more fun than tortuous(wigh just under 16stone). Quite a bit different on Ditchling which was honestly quite tough especially when I realised my gearing was to high to spin and I was just grinding but gave me a lot of confidence when I realised I hit a rhythm about a 3rd of the way up and the support of every I passed walking up.
Promptly bonked 10miles into return trip and was stuffing my face with every gel/sandwich I could get my hands on on the way back. Energy levels returned a little later. All round glad I have passed the 100 mile mark and wanted to share it with everyone.
Thanks for the advice and tidbits offered up on the forum (food, technique etc), All came in useful, in particurlar CHAMOIS CREME amazing stuff.
Also bumped into some guys who drove back in London who couldn't believe I cycled back gave me a lotta pride knowing it was a genuine achievement.
