I have just ordered a 57 cm Pinarello and after reading some internet comments I thnk I may have ordered a size too big.

I am a gnats **** under 6 foot with a 34 inside leg measurement. Both Wiggle and Evans recommended the 57 cm for my size.

The bike has been ordered but the order hasn't been processed yet so I may have some time to change the size.

Is there any Pinarello owners out there who can advise?

Thanks.

if they recommend that size - why do you think its to big ?

Pinarello's IME tend to come up small - so FWIW - you should be ok. might be worth postponing the order and having a chat with the shop , about the size ....and the returns policy !
  • Most comments on the internet seem to point to Pinarellos coming up larger. More confused now!

I have ordered from Wiggle so I will check their returns policy now, just in case,
  • What size is your Bianchi and are you happy with the fit? Looking at the geometry charts, a 57cm Pinarello is about equivalent to a 59cm Bianchi.

I am 5ft 8 and had a small pinarello - but that was some years ago - wiggle should be reasonable if its the wrong size - provided you haven't rode................but then how do you know.......you have to balance the savings from web buying v the risk.

The Bianchi was a 55 but had quite a bit if seatpost showing, this led me to moving up a size. I have changed my order to a 55 Pinarello, my think is that this will come up bigger than a 55 Bianchi. The geometry charts seem to confirm this.

Further research on Wiggle had uncovered that they are also recommending the Pinarello in a 55 for someone my height .

I have tried to use the Pinarello stockists in my area but they are pretty much sold out. Wiggle is also fairly low on stock and having sold the Bianchi I am panicking about being left bikeless.

    Thanks for all you responses.

  • Hi
I ride a FP2 55cm and am six foot but only a 30 inch inside leg.My gues is you will have the seat post uo a long way.I have dropped two spacers from the headset and the bike fits me fine even with my strange shape
I love it btw,tho have changed the wheels and tyres
  • I suppose I'll find out when it gets here!

Hopefully Wiggle will still have a 57 if I need to swap.
  • Sounds like the 57 would be too big for you.

I ride a saddle height of 182 and ride a 57 pinarello if that's any help.

I think so but time will tell.
Thanks for your help, but the Bianchi has gone do I have nothing to compare against.

Bear in mind that Wiggle's 30 day risk free test doesn't apply to bikes with discount of 15% or more, so if this is the case then the return will be at your cost.

I ended up not buying a £2k bike from them for this reason - it was 20% reduced (should have been £2.5k) but because they couldn't advise me of the definite correct size and wouldnt offer a free return if it was wrong I just couldn't chance it (bike was Focus and they are the only UK stockists, so couldnt sit on one at the LBS)

I am 6'2 and have a 57.5 Dogma (has a 57.5 TT) - this is as big a frame as I would ride in the Pinarello.

    Feeling reassured now, thanks.

I'm 5'11.5" with a 33" inside leg and ride a 56cm Pinarello. To be honest, I am not as flexible as I used to be and needed a 90mm stem to get comfortable. In hindsight I suspect a 55cm frame would have been better for me and my less than chameleon back! I think top tube length is more important.

I'm same height as the above poster and have two 55cm PIna's. They always used to refer to the seat tube length as opposed to the normal top tube length I.e my 55cm frame has a 55cm seat tube and a 56cm top tube. I assumed this was still the case, so a 57cm sounds too large for you

Unless you ride whith small saddle to bar drop it's prob better to go for a smaller size IMO. Bike too big with small stem can feel like a tugboat. Nice to get weight over the wheels, bike will handle better.

But if they still accept returns - you would only be £30 out of pocket (+ a lot of hassle) to return it ?

Finally after some email ping-pong and many telephone calls my Pinarello arrived last week.
Very happy with the size. The 55 is definitely bigger than a Bianchi 55 but that is what i was aiming for.
Been very luck to buy a bike off the internet without trying it for size first and have it fit do well.

And very, very happy with the bike in general!
