Orange P7 Barn Find

I was wondering if anyone can give me any info on this Orange P7 that was found in a shed after a recent house move?
Its non standard, has Pace forks with carbon lowers. A Hope front hub of some description and the rest of the kit is LX.
Is it worth anything?
What year bike is it?
Is it actually any good?
Is it worth fixing up?

95 or 96 nickel plated P7. Can't be much later as it has a canti hanger, and 94 (the first year of these?) had different stickers. Should be able to tell from the serial number on the bottom bracket.
Get it on over to http://www.retrobike.co.uk 8)0 -
Yep, mid 90s. Good frames, well worth restoring. I just got hold of a year 2000 version.0

That's bike porn to me! Hope hubs, orange P7 frame and what looks like pace forks...throw a bit of money at it for retro cool that will have people like me stopping you in the street!0

95 I'd say. With 96/97 mxc pace forks. Nice. I like the hope ti too, although I'd get shot of those brake levers in favour of some avid speed dials (they still make them ) oh yeah, in if the grip shift are hopeless at changing gear, dont worry, they were made that way.A Flock of Birds

I wouldn't use the water bottle though..
Nice find, nothing better than a great bit of MTB retroness!0 -
I would buy the forks off you0

Nice find, retrobike will be a good place to ask the above questions.
I'm looking for a retro p7 myself to restore. Let me know if you wanna sell, also what size is it?0 -

I liked that White frame, I saw a complete bike go for £150 on here, is that the same one?0

Well its home! I'm not sure if i'm going to keep it yet as i've just found a nail in my car tyre and may need the funds but we will see!
I've started to dismantle it to see what will be needed. The brakes are good and need new pads, the rear mech is working great but will need some new jockey wheels. Grips, Seat, Tyres, Cables ruined.
benpinnick i don't think the shifters are original as they are Sachs, everything else is Shimano LX. I like the originalness of the Shimano servowave levers so they will probabaly stay.
NatoED they may be available but are definately in need of a service. If you wish to PM me an offer i will consider.
Will 1 AM its an 18" i think. I will let you know if I decide to get rid. If you wish to PM me an offer i will consider.
The nickel plate does look brilliant but I don't have enough money to get it redone.
Finally here are a few more pictures!

I'm going to get the rest of it cleaned up tomorrow, check the true of the wheels and get the forks off it.0

You're going to need a gallon of degreaser to get hat cleaned up.. but all in a worthwhile project..0

Ha thats what dishwashers are for!0

Looks a pretty good find, I wouldn't sell it on though. Remember you can always pop it to the side for a month or 2 then spunk a bit of cash getting it sexy once funds permit. Makes it all the more worthwhile once it is done.0

If you need any parts, I still (probably) have from that era:
8 Speed Cassette.
Mavic Rim (New)
Some sachs wavy shifters (In blue)
Rings to fit 5bolt compact
Probably a load of other stuff too, including some Ritchey Alpha/Omegas in amberwall
Im afraid I just binned a load of decent BBs!A Flock of Birds

Benpinnick do you know if the Sachs grip shift are original?
I've got a set of Deore 9spd in the parts box that I'd be tempted to pop on, if the grip shifts are rubbish. It needs a chain and cassette anyway so it'd be cheaper than buying new shifters too. Although if I can find some el cheapo stx rc I'd likely put them on. Failing that the hunt may be on for some 96 Deore lx ones!
One of the rims isn't original its, I think it's the front one, which would correspond to the Hope hub.0 -
Sachs weren't specced on the bike. Probably replaced some gripsh1t ones. Sachs made them after SRAM gave up. 9spd wont work unless its 9spd already so watch that one. STX RC would be the choice if you can fine them!A Flock of Birds

i thought sach were bought out by sram .0

The bike is now for sale. It will take more effort than I was hoping to get running. The frame needs blasting and replating which i can't afford to get done, and it would seem a shame to turn it into a commuting hack.
For sale here http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=17204841#17204841
The people that have already expressed interest will have dibs till tomorrow evening when the parts will be open for anyone.0 -

seems like the absolute best reason to sell it.0 -
in that case the sach ones would be original .0
