I am seriously considering buying a Cube Agree GTC Pro: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=57237 which I really like. Although it is considerably lighter and faster than my Dawes Audax light tourer, I am a bit concerned that the carbon frame will be less comfortable (on long rides especially), than the Reynolds steel frame on my Audax bike.

I'd be interested in your views.

  • Ive been looking at the exact same bike...Looks pretty awesome doesnt it!

All the reviews i can find say its very comfortable but also quick handling and sharp when required. The alloy version is also looking very nice but i cant find reviews :(
  • I have the Agree GTC Race, yes the carbon frame is superbly comfortable. This summer I've completed the Llangollen Panorama Audax (85 miles) and the Manchester 100 plus numerous long club runs, no problems at all.
  • I have that bike and yes it's very comfortable.. I have completed a few 100 mile+ sportives this summer no problem, apart from sore legs ofcourse. What I will say tho, is the wheels it comes with seem to have a common fault, the spokes come loose all the time and run out of true.. I sent them back and put a bit extra cash on for Mavic Krysium Equipe's.. Lovely bike tho.
  • Looks like Cube have stopped using Fulcrum wheels on the 2012 models. Having said that the Fulcrum 5s on my Race have been fine (3000+ miles).
  • The bike in the link is a 2011 model and uses Easton wheels. I've got the 2010 version that comes with Fulcrum 5's and not had any issues.

For me the bike is very comfy, especially compared to my alloy trek.
  • Thanks for the replies. I had a short test ride on one today and it felt really good so I've gone ahead and ordered one which I should get in the next few days.

More sporty set-up than the model I was originally thinking of, but although the bar height is a good bit below the saddle, it felt fine - even for an old bloke like me.
  • good call. Let us know how you get on. I will more than likely order one in the spring.

I was away on holiday last week so only in last few days have I had a real chance to try out the new bike, and it feels fantastic - so light and quick, even for an aging cyclist like myself. It is about 3kg lighter than my Audax bike and with bar position being a few inches lower than the saddle I'm in a more aero-dynamic position than usual and this helps increase my speed as well.

The triple ring on this bike is also better - a 50x39x30 whereas my Audax is 52x42x30. With a 39 middle ring now, I find that I only have to drop to the smallest ring on very steep hills. I am happy that I went for a triple again rather than a 50x34 compact which I had considered.

The only niggle so far is my saddle post is creaking a bit in the frame when I'm climbing - I greased it using that copper grease which someone recommended, but it doesn't seem to have helped, so I might try regreasing with 'normal' grease. However really happy with the bike.

^^ Shouldn't you be using 'carbon paste' of some sort ?

No expert on these things but copper grease definately doesn't sound right on a carbon frame to me.

Nice bike, I've been looking at this years range with Ultegra Di2  ...... I need it in my life....

  • Enjoy it its a fantastic bike, Ive got the 2011 GTC Race with the Fulcrum 5s and so far they have been fine and no problems.

  • I've been looking at the Cube GTC's too - stunning spec and value for money, and everywhere seems to give good reviews...

Have seen some of the 2012 models online already and they look incredible! Going to hold off now the weather's changing and probably treat myself in the Spring to give me a boost :-)

Had the Fulcrum 5's on mine...after 4000 miles still true as the day I got them!
  • Mine have gone wobbly, i have styraightened them a little but they have gone again. I will question this when it goes back for its 6-week service, lovely bike though.
