Truvativ Isoflow crankset "clicking"

I bought a GT Agressor XC2 from Halfords in February this year and have since done around 600 miles on it but there's an annoying clicking coming from the cranks/BB which at first I thought was the pedals but the noise still persisted even after fitting some DMR pedals to it.
I've had it back to Halfords three times now and three times they've told me it's fixed only for it to reappear when giving it some up a hill (which is where it's most apparent). It's usually the left hand crank when it reaches the 8 o'clock position.
Anyone know what this is or how to cure the problem? I have been looking at a Deore crankset, saying as all of the other gear is Deore. Would it just be a straight swap if I bought one?
