Hi some technical question.
Got Sram X-4 shifters and Sram X-4 rear derailleur which is not good condition as can see on picture.
It says on it that's got actuation ratio 1:1 ,and measure shows 8cm beetwen screws that holds jockey wheels.
Don't know is this medium or long cage derailleur ?
What other derailleurs I could buy instead of this one.
Thinking about Sram X-5 with medium cage but don't like to shorten chain if this one is long cage ?
Got 8 gears in back.
Thank you for any tips or info.

You do not need to shorten the chain.
The 9 speed X5 rear derailer will work fine.
If you have a triple chainset, go for the long cage.0 -
Got double chainset in front so should by fine with Sram X-5 medium cage.
I happend today ,this thing on picture after jumping from stairs...I found out my sram is at the top of cassette and ripped off.
Did that twice already :?0 -
Is this one with medium cage will work with sram X-4 shifters.
16 gears :
crankset Truvativ Ruktion, 24/36T
cassette Sram PG-820, 8 speed, 11-32T
Don't won to go Sram again ,just read lot's of guys jumping and breaking them.0 -

No, you must use a SRAM X series derailer, that is not 10 speed.0

Well after looking and searching I go for Sram X7 9sp medium cage.
