For me its defo gotta be Emotional and Uplifting Trance. Love the way the Synths and the strings are combined :)

Not to everyone's taste. But certainly alot more talented than some of the stuff thats in the charts these days.

    That link is musically bereft.
Hairs on end trance had a peak, and it was many years ago.

I still get chills down my spine when I listen to a great recording of Phillip Glass's Koyanoski (not sure of the spelling), or Adagio for Strings, the real one, which is both slow, and for strings, unlike Tiesto's (still good fun) version.

Have to disagree! Trance between 1997 - 2003 Yes it was good. But it was the same boring Supersaw lead.

And yes William Orbits - Adagio for stings the Ferry Corsten remix was a quality tune. But i personally prefer the newer stuff. More emotion in it.

You do realise I mean Adagio for strings by Samuel Barber, as played by an orchestra, right?
And as regards the trance thing, no, I mean before the "trance by numbers" shite came out.

Sorry misread the way the sentence was going. The Original by Samuel Barber is a beautiful tune.

I like this by Brian Eno also which is beautiful.

And as for Trance, I don't like the mainstream crap that Tiesto plays. I prefer the Emotional stuff that isn't really for nighclubs, more for kicking back with a beer watching the sunset/sunrise.

Pink Floyd - pretty much whatever they did

In particular, Comfortably Numb. Or any track on Animals. Or Wish You Were Here.

    You catch my drift.

That is an awesome piece of music. The movie Platoon made it famous, the part where Sgt. Elias (Willem Dafoe) gets abandoned and gunned down by the VC, William Orbit did an amazing version too, very true to the original, although done on keyboard, I have it on the Chilled Ibiza album.

One track that does it for me is the Easy All Stars' version of Any Colour You Like from the legendary Dub Side of the Moon album
Some of the best trombone solos and DUB I've ever heard

    Prokoviev. F.T.W.

The works of the Carmina Burana have also inspired some beauties. Carl Orff's 'O Fortuna' and Corvus Corax's 'O Varium' are grand examples.

I also listen to industrial, ebm and goth, just to blow whatever street-cred I had left clear out the f***ing water

Main theme from the film Sunshine and used in Kick Ass. Perfect backing music for the scenes they are used in.
